2009-02-16 [Chrysilla]: Aww, yeah, I visited lots of places since I moved in France ^_^
This one is close to the fronteer between Spain and France, I've seen it last autumn, on the way back from our holidays in Spain. Pity I was in a not so good mood, and I took mediocre photos. I have at least 50 in my file, and only a few made it to this wiki. Still, I'm not really happy with them, but meh. For my birthday we're gonna visit some more castles :D

2009-02-22 [Easterling]: Who wins in this siege, by the way? Do you know the history?

2009-02-22 [Chrysilla]: Well the first siege was won by the owners of the fortress, the Spanish. If I remember right what the guide said, the French won the second one by some surprise attack and made a huge mistake: they were in a fortress, they were many, and they forgot that fortresses are used to be sieged. So they had no provisions of food and they got sieged by the Spanish, so they gave in after a month or so. After the last siege, the fortress became French.

2009-02-22 [Trennas]: nonetheless, chances of dying during either siege were considerable to say the least :p

2009-02-22 [Chrysilla]: Yeah, they had used "modern" (as in "post-middleage" xD) concepts to build it, it was quite a good shelter :) You should see the thickness of the outside walls, 10m at the base and 6m at the top O.O

2009-02-22 [Easterling]: So, are we playing the first or the last siege?

2009-02-23 [Chrysilla]: I dunno, do we speak more French or more Spanish here?
